Your Coach

Philanthropy is who I am, not just what I do.

Raised with an altruistic mindset, Malinda Logan grew up benefiting from many different organizations. Whether they would lead her to join her first ever Girl Scout troupe, take her on a leadership expedition through Philadelphia, or – as a bare fundamental – ensure she was able to open a present under the Christmas Tree, that was all her! Malinda grew to be able to reach beyond her comfort zone, realize there were so many possibilities to succeed, and gain self-confidence and self-sufficiency needed to step out into a world unknown.

Had her journey not started there, she would not be where she is today: A recipient of a Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting Degree from Ithaca College and Master of Science Degree in Fundraising Management from Columbia University.

Before Malinda began providing grant writing and overall coaching services, she spent 10 years leading development departments in arts and culture and special needs education organizations, as well as managing relationships with the United Way. Collectively, her responsibilities included building infrastructure and implementing strategic fundraising plans through multiple revenue streams. Malinda worked closely with their boards and volunteer committees to help strengthen engagement, execute cultivation and fundraising events, and build out their fundraising pipeline. She’s managed multi-million dollar relationships, and been awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants on behalf of these organizations.

Proudly, Malinda has worked as an Associate Instructor in Fundraising Fundamentals at Columbia University. Furthermore, she is a certified event planner; and member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Association of Black Foundation Executives, American Alliance of Museums, New York Women in Film & Television, and Signature Theatre’s Just Inked Program.  And if that wasn’t enough, Malinda is an Executive Committee Member on the Young Leaders Board of Lupus Research Alliance.

Yes, I’m still a working actor.

My Philosophy

If you read Your Coach, then you can understand why Malinda could never possibly give her heart, soul, time and attention to just one cause. It can take many missions – and we are all interconnected – to ensure every being on our planet can survive and thrive.

Fundraising isn’t scary, or needy. Asking for money shouldn’t give you anxiety. It’s simply filling a gap that has been left untouched for far too long. And now you are taking the necessary steps to ensure this problem gets resolved – and stays resolved.

Knowing that you are on this site, tells Malinda you want to serve others in the best way possible.

Malinda salutes you. Thank you for your commitment, your devotion, your altruism. We need more people like you.

Malinda’s personal mission is to serve start-up, small or mid-sized organizations, or individuals that are under-resourced, and with not so common and seemingly rare services. Her personal passions are performing and cultural arts, anti-human trafficking, social justice, foster care, homelessness, African-American history and historical preservation, and child education and development.

If you don’t know where to begin, allow Malinda to guide and coach you through your journey. She’s been on both sides of the fence and know you can get there too. Malinda knows you’ve been trying to climb the stairs of progress for so long, while you see others taking the elevator. Allow her to be your personal lift attendant.
